We are a small family of three trying to improve our cast upon this earth. We have explored and implemented environmental changes in our lives and how we conduct ourselves daily. Far from being perfect, we still manage a middle-class lifestyle (with many of the trappings) but, little by little, we are becoming "earth-friendlier."
About Me:
Started a small raised bed square foot garden two years ago and have continued to expand it. Plans for further expansion are this fall. Goal is turn entire backyard either into production or in the storage of sustainably items (firewood, compost, materials). Seriously exploring setting up raising chickens using a movable chicken tractor system. Would be used for egg production only. First year try into container gardening, will explore more. Compost, gotta love it!
Neighbors consider us a little quirky as we are rabid recyclers and reusers. Lawn has a tendency to get a little long, as the neighborhood standard of thrice-weekly cuttings of grass is not performed. Local ChemLawn guy is greeted by the neighbors like you would the ice cream truck man. They just can't seem to get enough. Have been referred to as ol' Farmer McRonald. Overall opinion is "why would you grow your own food when we have wonderful supermarkets only short distances away?
